why are companys getting so prejudice

i applied for a job as a chemist assistant last week, and received a letter today stating that i can not be considered for this position as i dont have a driving license !!!!!! why?
the chemist is 5minutes walk from my house so why do i need a license

Most pharmacies collect prescriptions and deliver drugs, maybe that's why they need the assistant to drive.
Or is a laboratory you've applied to work in?

its the lab hc, and i am fully qualified for the position, put if they require someone with a license why dont companies put that on there vacancy, i just find it annoying. just because i dont drive doenst mean i cant do the job
I have the same problem, some adverts put "Driver required" others don't. I find it tough not being able to drive, because it does limit the jobs I can apply for.
This must "drive" you round the bend, littlegrif! Good luck finding a new job; my heart goes out to you.
Agree this should be put into the advert if it is a critical requirement.
But it isn't prejudice - just pure stupidity on their part. Would you really want to work for such a shambollick organisation?
