Top of the list will be families who are homeless and have no savings and low income. I would imagine having 150k in the bank will put your friend at the very bottom of the waiting list. It could be several years before he is offered a property to rent.
I agree with daffy, and quite frankly the Housing Association should NOT be considering him at all(but I suppose they have to go through the motions).
Personally,I think as he has this sort of money he would be lucky to be offered anything,EVER.
As daffy says,Housing Association properties are for those who are homeless,or on VERY low incomes;not the possesors of a sum like £150,000!

Actually a friend of mine has just sold her house, and has £80k in her parents account. She has found s house to rent and put down a deposit and advance on it. Her husband was fired from his job as their marriage had problems and he took time off, so now he is on job seeker and she doesn't work. She has just completed forms to the council so they can pay her rent. I couldn't believe it when she said that all she had to show as evidence was proof of their income, i e child benefit, job seekers etc and copies of their bank statements. I was quite shocked and she told me of her other friend who did this. I'm pleased for her in one way as they've been through hell and the kids but I'm disgusted with the council as to how easy it is to do this. I saw the forms myself and there was nothing on there asking about their house now or mortgage. It really is bad. The council would not help me when my partner kicked me out years ago and I was on low income... I had alot of points but still they wouldn't help. Seems in this world u have to expand on the truth a bit!
