How to get diesel fuel smell off clothes?

My husband has been working on a boat and has come back with all his clothes smelling of diesel fuel. I have given them one wash but the smell is still on the clothes. Does anyone know how to get rid of the smell?

Will be grateful for any suggestions otherwise he will have to go shopping and buy new clothes.

I have to wash my husband's clothes everyday like this. I find a 60c wash works best with fabric conditioner at the last rinse then hang them outside for a day or two.Hopefully this will get rid of the diesel smell.

soak in diluted eucalyptus oil overnight then wash
