MM Links Solutions October 2009 [Week 5]

In the fifth and final week in the reign of “Queen Christiana”, the “Cheerful One” was true to her word, in that significantly more points were awarded to the successful entrants. Out of 42 people who entered their predictions this month, only half a dozen failed to get on the scoreboard! This change of fortune resulted from the following selected links based on “The Last Post”:

No one can fault roslyn for being the eager beaver. First off the block again, she reached the WINNING POST before anyone else for a well-deserved TWO POINTS. Strangely enough, none the early birds followed suit. More popular was LAST CHANCE, set by gen2 and picked up by Aquagility and grannydi ~ each scoring TWO POINTS.

In between time, Entrant #4 came in at 09.02 in the form of Dustybun with her FINAL ANSWER (inspired by “Who wants to be a Millionaire?”) to claim her TWO POINTS for the third hit to go in quick succession. By Entrant #14, the doors began to close on bonus points as Jim squeezed in his “One Last Chance” before the initial rush calmed down.

At 09.33, x-ray came in as Entrant #19 hoping to double his score so far (of One Point!). Well, he failed to do so! Predicting both “Last Chance” AND “Winning Post”, he picked up Two Points and trebled his previous score. Only one other entrant matched this degree of success and that was fordward ~ Well done to you both!

We did not much longer to wait for the last link, as mirandasmum entered the competition at12.01 asking the BURNING QUESTION for the final TWO POINTS of the contest. Single points were picked up along the trail by jobjockey, SHAZZA, Mr Ont-ice, annie49 & twix123 before the game coasted to a gentle close.

Both Dustybun & wickedtongue are to be congratulated for being top scorers for the month of October. Unfortunately, they are recent ex-champions ~ as are slaney & twix123! HOWEVER, I can identify Jim as a worthy heir to the throne and I invite “King James” to accept the role of Royal Links Setter throughout the month of November.

I've had a great deal of fun setting the links this month and I'm sure Jim will do the same in November. One thing I must say is what a brilliant and imaginative lot you are. Over and over again during the month people came up with links I hadn't even thought of, but wished I had. So I'm happy to say I've finished feeling even more cheerful than I began. This is Queen Christiana, the extremely cheerful one signing off. As Crofter said, same time, same place next week - new setter. It will also be fun to be part of the crowd again.

Wow! wot a good month I had for a change. Thank you Queen Christiana ~ it was great fun. Thank you too crofter for all your hard work ~ we really are very lucky. By the way, I hope Harry didn't play you up last night!

BTW, babysitting Harry was a dream ~ apart from the fact that he woke at 06.10 with a big smile on his face (all four teeth on show) wanting to play!!
