Aerial Boosters?

Are there such things as aerial boosters to improve terrestrial TV reeception? BBC 1 and Channel 4 are virtually unwatchable to me. I live in Cornwall.

has one for �15.99 that boosts analogue reception. Which is what u need I think

Yes (as above) though apparently if the signal is very poor they don't help much (though you could always take it back to Argos!).

You could also try a better quality aerial, which can get expensive, or - if available in your area - go down the cable or satellite route.

Lorcan you might be as well forking out that little bit extra for a digital box, as sometime in the next few years you will need to do this anyway. Then you get all the extra channels you never knew you couldnt live without!

Most good electical retailers stock them. I also watch tv through my video which gives an added kick. Can you get freeview? I can't here in Norfolk and it's driving me mad! We only got broadband last year! And yes, smart alecs, we've had electricity for about 18 months now 8- )

I also live in Cornwall and have bad reception, I forked out for a booster which helped, but as already stated it depends on your aerial.  It is also better running through my video.  I would go the Sky route but my landlord isn't up for it as it is a listed building so I'd have to fill out Council questionnaire to get permission etc.  Am I right in thinking digital is through your aerial anyway which you won't be able to pick up if it is such a bad signal area?

PS:  It helped but is still only just bearable!  I also found that I can tune to Caradon Hill and the other transmitter (not sure where it is).  On some days I get better signals from different ones.  May be worth trying to tune these in on extra tv channels.  Depends which part of the county you are living in I guess.  You'll know which transmitter you are on by which local news you get on ITV.

Again, a good electrical retailer can either tell you how to do the necessary or come and do it for you. Hughes Electrical are fantastic if you've a branch near you.
