You seal all the windows and doors as much as possible, and leave it to run: it extract water from the air and the carpet. However this will be tricky if you keep using the kitchen while this is going on - kettles and so on adding water back into the air!
I agree wit the others: get rid of the carpet and replace either with floor tiles or lino.
