White mould on wood chipboard cupboard back

hi there we have condensation issues in the house all something I am well versed on and is being sorted out now but I try to avoid wood furniture because of the historical mould which is usually black spot mould over the walls as a result of excessive moisture and condenstaion.

However now I have come across white mould different to the black spot mould on the only wooden furniture we have really. They are those cheap chipboard cupboards you can get where you then nail thinner one sided veneered on the back. It was up next to a wall not against it I my add because this makes the condensation and mould worse. However I pulled them away when I was cleaning the walls down for black spot and there are huge white patches all over the back of the thin chipboard back, as if the mould loves to grow there on chipboard. The rest of the cupboard is fine no mould and the contents are good condition too.

I have treated the mould with my anti-mould solution, wiping the back chipboard down, it has dried well with a dehumidifier and looks brand new.

But I would like to ask if anyone has come across this type of mould on chipboard before and to ask whether it is like mould on leather where the mould spore remain and regrows time and again. As if this is the case I would like to strip the backs off now just to make sure and staple some plastic on the back?

Once the panels are clear of mould, why not just paint them with a couple of coats of any left-over gloss paint - then any mould can't get to the wood.

If the backs are thoroughly dried, you won't have a problem. But I'd use an oil-based paint rather than water-based.
