The coroner only needs to be notified of deaths in certain circumstances. One of these is if the death was violent or unnatural" (including suicide).
However, this does not necessarily mean that an inquest will be held. An inquest will only be held if the coroner believes that coroner there should be further investigation into the death.
If an inquest has occured, the record ("Notes of Evidence") copies may be obtained on payment of a fee. Just contact the local 'Coroners Officer' - ask the council / police on info how to do this.
The death certificate may also be of some use.
