hi
i have a ford escort 1999 1.8 TD the clutch pedal when to the floor on my way home yesterday and made a loud click. i thought it was clutch cable but after changing this the pedal is still on the floor
any idears

sounds like the adjustment ratchet on the top of the pedal has released fully.

Try lifting the pedal up as far as you can and get somebody to pull the other end of the cable to see if it will re-engage.
...could also mean your master cylinder is f****d.
Why would any car have a clutch cable and a clutch master cylinder ?
No, I think Chuck is right,
Probably one of the teeth on the self adjust mechanism has broken of,
Fairly cheap to replace, can be a cow to do if you haven't got a double swivel neck and back,

If it aint that then fear the worst, (release arm, )but unlikely.

it was the ratchet had to replace it what a pig of a job see what you logic
