Disc Defragmenter

My disc defragmenter isnt working.

It gets to 2% then goes back to 0%

Any ideas whats wrong?

Check task manager, see what else is running. Defrag does not like the disk being written to by other processes while it is working. If it detects other write-activity it will re-zero and start again.

Turn off or unplug your modem.
Don't start any applications during defrag.
Set your screensaver to 'None' or change the dleay time to 3 hours or more.

Better still,  defrag in safe mode.

Boot your pc, before windows starts press f 8 then press f 5, when it opens defrag in the usual way.

Also you should use your spysweeper and adaware etc in safe mode.

Have you disabled your screensaver too?

I solved the problem by doing it in Safe Mode.
