Walking two dogss
I walk 2 dogs on 1lead. Depending on the order I have them in, they either both try too get ahead or one goes into follower mode and the other tries to get ahead. When walked individually they both walk behind me (I have invested considerable time in making that happen) and neither tries to surge ahead.
Why does the order matter, what's happening?

I used to walk 2 of my dogs (greyhound/lurcher/whippet cross and a bull terrier/staffy cross) on 1 lead and they used to do the same. Take them off the leads and my greyhound always goes behind - as I am the head member of the pack whilst walking they are protecting me. Maybe because they have leads on they feel that the connection between you and them is different. My mother decided to complete a canine psychology course purely to understand why one of the dogs is aggressive, luckly for me since she is a dinosaur on a computer I typed up what she had written - alot of the course rubbed off onto me :)
