Why do I hate shopping ? When I was young I used to love going shopping and always found loads of clothes I liked, although I couldn't always afford to buy them. When I go shopping now - middle-aged and a little larger (not much, 12-14) I really HATE it. I never see anything I like, the colours are too drab or everything looks too mumsy or too young, I just don't see anything whatever the price. I come home feeling really depressed. I went to the Sales today, had one look around the John Lewis clothes dept and came straight home. Is this natural in post menopausal women ? I would rather look at things for the home than clothes and shoes. And yet I like to look nice for my age, I always have my hair done and wear make up when I go out. I would rather shop in second hand shops yet I have the money to pay for anything - within reason - at any department store.
Hi smurfchops. I'm exactly like you, I hate clothes shopping in shops mainly because I can't imagine what a piece of clothing hanging on a hanger will look like on. I now shop in catalogues or on-line. There seems to be a large range of clothes at all prices and in many colours.
I used to love Wallis, Monsoon, those type of shops, but they don't seem to interest me any more .... someone on Grumpy Old Women said exactly the same as me a few weeks ago, which made me feel more normal !
