my computer keeps telling me i have insufficient bandwidth to even listen to radio shows. im sure this cannot be true. how can i find out what bandwidth i need to listen to or watch a programme, and what bandwidth my isp is supposed to provide me with?

thanks for that link. it reckons i had 4104 kbps, then 10 mins later i only had 888 kbps. so two further q's.... what is recommended by bbc website? and why would that download speed change so dramatically?

Dunno what the Beeb recommend, but I would have thought between 1.5 and 2 Mbps was adequate. You can expect varying speeds depending on the time of day, and the contention ratio in your area, but I would have though a drop from around 4 Mps to less than 1, would indicate some sort of problem.
