I am a British subject, born in England as were my forefathers before me.
So if I am a British subject, who are these British who consider themselves racially superior to me?
Problem is Seadragon, we brought civilisation to those other countries, but now some of those people are coming here trying to drag us back into the middle ages.

Problem is Seadragon, we brought civilisation to those other countries, but now some of those people are coming here trying to drag us back into the middle ages.
Sorry if it wasn't clear Oldgit, the people of the British Colonies abroad. I am also a British subject with the Queen as head but I just think its hypocrisy to have an Empire that oppressed so many people abroad and murdered and yet complain about foreigners, some whose forefathers were ruled under the Brits and not only constantly refer to them as 'immigrants' but blame them for the state of this Country?
And isn't that a Colonialist view that 'we brought civilization to those countries'? We looted countries, stole from its inhabitants, who was the more civilized? And 'trying to drag us back into the Middle Ages'? You really think that? The so-called Immigrants weren't a huge part of England in the Middle Ages - I think your referring to the 'civilized people' that make the British? Times have changed, you should look at the positives as mentioned by others?
And isn't that a Colonialist view that 'we brought civilization to those countries'? We looted countries, stole from its inhabitants, who was the more civilized? And 'trying to drag us back into the Middle Ages'? You really think that? The so-called Immigrants weren't a huge part of England in the Middle Ages - I think your referring to the 'civilized people' that make the British? Why did you have to shop each day? In those days almost everything was delivered to your door.

But if they were the typical parent of the 60s, they may not have had so many material things that you have, they may not have had as much money than you have, but then they didn't need as much did they? But I bet my bottom dollar that they were a lot happier than you, and it is certain they were a lot less stressed out than you.

If we hadn't acquired an Empire, there where many countries around the world that would have jumped in, and perhaps their Empire's people would have most likely have faired much worst under them, after all our Empire was created out of trading and exploration, and we did not murder either. In fact it was us that were murdered, have you not heard of the Thugs of India, or the Mau Mau of Kenya?
We were invited into India to trade, and it suited the despots of India to let us colonise their sub continent, with the wealth of our inventiveness from our industrial revolution, building schools, bridges, dams, railways.The same could be said for Africa, but the problem with Africa is still the same now in the 21st century.
It is amazing though, they all wanted to get rid of the British, and what happened to their countries? They went to the dogs after we left, so they all came running to settle in Britain, they still don't like us, but we look after them, better than our own.

Oldgit, I don't know how to do links but type in British Empire Massacres into Google and look at the 3rd link...the one beginning 'Historian flies flag....'Jallianwala Bagh, the slave-trade, the Irish Famine and others all happened for Britains' interests.
I sympathize with you somewhat as a child I remember playing safely outside, doors unlocked, non-materialistic, simple life it was. But times have changed and its not all down to Immigrants. Techonological advancement, competition, the EU, economic advancement is under constant evolution. One thing interesting in the above said link is the part about Victorian Britain being the biggest drug pusher and the reasons stated for invading China and Hong kong.

Having noticed who wrote your link, I am afraid I cannot comment further simply because of it's far left source the 'The Socialist Worker' this is equally as bad as the BNP, in fact on the streets they cause more bother than the latter.
You are obviously a supporter of this anti-British organisation (communist) therefore I cannot see how we will ever agree, therefore we must agree to disagree.

Laughing Oldgit. Read the link, ignore the magazine. I didn't know how to spell Jallianwala and so googled it saw that link, read the article and found it interesting as it summed up a view of the Empire which you should acquaint yourself with. I'm not saying agree with it but try and see that the Empire didn't just paint with a lilac brush but a blood red one as well.
And I'm not a COMMUNIST!!! (Laughing) Please if you label me something please let it be a humanist. I try and get on with people of all backgrounds, social, economic etc

The majority of people who are dragging Briton back to the dark ages are the inbreds, existing on sink estates who never work and exist only to have sex with their own children, when they're not pretending they're kidnapped in order to claim a reward.
Alternatively, they're torturing kids because "there's nowt to do".
And let's not forget the generation of 'workers' who decided to destroy the country by striking throughout the 70s, whilst Japan and Germany's economy went from strength to strength.
But let's ignore that and just 'blame the immigrants'.
