Isn't that a brand of sugar? I guess it was a freebie.

No, not a brand of sugar. Looks like it is what is termed as a makers mark. Note: Purissima means pure in itallian. Have this query on another site - and they have come up with a more likely explanation that the spoon is either EPNS or a nickel alloy spoon (it is a shiney spoon).
