This is going to sound so gross and it is..but I need to go poo really really badly and I just can't. I will try to, and it will come maybe halfway out and i just cannot seem to get it out anymore. It hurts so much and I have been like this for maybe 3 days now. It will come halfway out and not anymore and I have to squeeze it back up there. I am even starting to get to the point where I can't pee because everytime I go to pee I start to poo but I know it just won't come out. Help!!

Hello raindrop, i know what you are going through as i have had this problem myself. the only way i have dealt with this is to(this is going to sound really strange) lift your bottom off the toilet a bit,, put your hands under your bottom and feel between your bot and front passage. You should be able to feel what needs to come out, gently push bulge with you fingers on either side of it , you should hopefully get rid of this agonising problem. Let me know if it works for you. I not bonkers it does work for me.
Try a bit of exercise, jumping about, that should get it moving, also a nice hot cup of tea. A brilliant way to 'go' is to have half a dozen prunes before you go to bed, the soft packages you can buy of fresh prunes are brilliant. What a relief that will be .... Good luck.
Ive found Colon Care+, from Holland & Barratt, useful for dealing with constipation. Its a powdered plant fibre, and you mix a spoonful with water (or fruit juice or whatever) and drink it down. As it absorbs huge amounts of water, it thickens up quickly like goo, and feels a bit odd in your mouth, so you need to have another glass of water handy to help clear your mouth. You really do need the second drink to clear your mouth and throat, cos you can feel the mixture getting really sticky and cloggy in your throat once its wet, it really expands. The idea is that it acts like a sponge and helps to absorb toxins and clear any obstruction it meets. Its best to take it at night, so it can do its work while you sleep.

Another thing that can help is a tablespoon of health salts in a glass of water. That usually does the trick! Drink it while its still fizzing.

For future reference, drink plenty of water. Most of us tend to drink water only when were really thirsty, but our bodies need lots of it, so a few glasses a day is really beneficial. One of the effects of too little water can be painful constipation.

Thanks for the advice, I will try and I really really hope it helps. The unfortunate part is I can't exercise or jump about because I currently have a broken foot :(

sit up straight and relax - don't keep pushing just sit and relax the muscles

also try a slight rocking

Try resting your feet on a stool (excuse the pun!!) and drink plenty of water- dehydration is the biggest cause of constipation. If you dont have any luck speak to a pharmacist and ask for glycerin suppositories to soften up the motion.
That is rest your feet on a stool while you're on the loo!! Also recomend ingrams suggestion!

If it doesn't clear with in a week you should really see you doctor.

eat nuts and citrus fruit, drink lots of water.

Try this site for lots of good info. The old apple a day thing ~ really works! Start off with 3 a day for a day or two and you'll be sitting pretty in no time.

I would go to the chemist and buy some supositories. You gently push them inside your bottom. They are glycerine. Leave for about 10 mins and it will soften your motion to let it pass. Good Luck because I know it makes you feel very uncomfortable.

Raindrop, when I read about your broken foot, I wondered if you have been taking painkillers containing Codeine. This can make you very constipated and would cause the problems you are describing. Your best bet to get rid of your problem is probably the glycerine suppositories mentioned by maggie01. When the glycerine melts it will make it much easier and your bottom will not be so sore. Hope you are soon feeling better.

Oh dear this may sound nasty but if it is coming out partway, then you can try to break off whatever has left your bum. Wrap some loo paper around your hand, or you can use rubber or latex gloves if you happen to have any around. (of course, you could use bare hands, if you aren't squeamish, but give them a good scrub afterwards...). At least that will decrease the volume left inside which may reduce the discomfort.

At any rate, I hope this comment is redundant and you have sorted it out by now.
