I have a problem I am slightly overweight and I would describe my diet as very good but portions too big, my veg is out my garden and my fiances father is a butcher, so my meat is a very good quality.
I seem to go on a real exercise drive then suddenly stop, recently I have been going circuit training at the local boxing club twice a week, it is an hour long and is very very intensive training. I seem to do about a month of this then I suddenly don't feel like going and I get craving for fast food, today I had a mcdonalds for lunch, I really don't like fast food yet its almost as if my body is crying out that i'm starving.
Then I start feeling unhealthy and will start going again, until the same happens, does anyone know any tips on how I can break this cycle, or is it just old fashion will power?
Sorry but you really have answered your own question here! Take in less fuel and burn more energy is the only way to lose weight. But stop the boom and bust; take it steady but be consistent so you don't keep losing interest. Don't deny yourself what you really like to eat but cut down on the amount. 50% of the food = 50% of the calories! Try to avoid the fast food too often, have it as a once a week treat perhaps.
The times you don't feel like going are the times you push yourself to go. I know because I have to do the same next week as I've had two weeks off the gym now. Ultimately it's not good for me not going, it doesn't to anything to help me acheive my goals and I don't feel like I've accomplished anything so I clearly have to go.... You just have to push yourself.
can you exercise more often, but at a lesser intensity? so you dont end up dreading the exercise, cos you know it will be really hard and last for ages. this is helping me at the moment anyway. do 40 mins a day, but do it 4 days a week perhaps.
Exercise that you don't want to do is too difficult. Have you thought of swimming several times a week? Great for toning every part of the body without the stresses and strains.
some good positive advice thanks. i must admit i do dread going circuit training, but afterwards i feel great, good old endorphins, i did use to enjoying swiming when younger, maybe i will get back in the pool.
