A question I often asked myself back in the 70s when Wimpy were the leaders in fast food!  How can you have a 100% pure BEEF, HAMburger,  was that some kind of new breed that didn't catch on?

Sorry woofgang & cat woman posted on wrong user name!
Hi smudge, see what mean! he's even done it on this thread on my SITE!!.. Doh!!!   :-)

The hamburger has confused many, and supermarket and frozen foods often call them 'beefburgers', and then use rusk fillings that soak up fat and swell the patty. Disgusting.

Hamburger tends to be used by premium products. It should contain just beef. And maybe a little seasoning.

Incidentally - this was thecause of about the only rude joke I can recall on The Archers, it went something like..

1st person explains "Hamburger gets their name because they come from Hamburg, Frankfurters come from Frankfurt.

2nd person "So what comes from Heidelberg?"

Pinotage, you've lost me on that one?
I don't get it.
Do you know how hamburgers originally got their shape? Soldiers of the time used to take a ball of semi minced meat and spices and place it under the saddle of their horses when out riding or even in battle. The weight of the saddle, and the heat of the horse would 'cook' the meat sufficiently enough such that they always had a meal. Saw it on some documentary.
