it kind of enforces the various tier level of racism; you can get away with derisory comments on whole countries. Next along are spurious minority groups such as gypsies. You're not really allowed to get away with mocking gays or disabled people, religion is up next, Christianity & Buddhism being the soft target you'll more than likely get away with - dont even go there with Islam or Hinduism.

Colour is a big no no, big trouble there. The daddy of all are Jews. Its so extreme to knock them its not even racism - its anti semitism, has its own catergory. Go there and you're basically Hitler.

If I saw someone wearing this I honestly wouldn't have given it a second glance, just assumed it was another sportswear brand that passed me by. Then again, I didn't even know the World Cup was on never mind who is in it.

I'd be stupid and naive to deny that bigotry / racism go hand in hand with sport for some people here but don't tar us all with the same brush.

I would say racism or any other form of abuse becomes an issue when someone is hurt or seriously offended.

Surely no-one can take that much offence about a friendly jibe about football? There's been an on the whole friendly rivalry between England and Scotland for years but it goes bith ways and generally doesn't involve malice.

If the shop was saying "English not welcome in here" that would be different.
