Renaissance

Does anybody believe that for some the renaissance was something that happened to others.  I'm sure I see some people still walking around like cavemen, grunting, gibbering like baboons and using abrubt four letter words more than once in the same sentence.

The Renaissance was a mainly French thing, you can tell by the silly spelling. It never came over here. Sentence ? You mean having a subject, verb, object ? Where you living man ?

Is it possible that the Renaissance only happened to French people then?  How does this explain Eric Cantona then?

Renaissance, meaning rebirth, means the re-establishing of learning, literature, and science as practiced in earlier times but interrupted by feudal and religious forces working to keep the populace in ignorance so more easily to control them. This was brough to an end by the Black Death.

After the pestilence, those ordinary people who remained held more power and rejected much mumbo-jumbo religious twaddle in favour of the truth. This had a profound effect on society as a whole, for the betrter in my opinion.

Unfortunately each generation has to learn the human truths anew and some groups or individuals refuse to do so and eventually form groups of self-replicating unenlightend ones without wisdom, learning and social inclusion.

Have you noticed that the unenlightened ones manage to self-replicate at a greater rate than the enlightened ones? Perhaps it's evolutions way of keeping us from getting [i]too[/i] clever...
