"The Mail reports the news that POLITICALLY CORRECT newspapers don't DARE to report"

"The Daily Mail has now accepted the allegations were "entirely false"."
I read somewhere late last year, that the Daily Mail now holds the record for the single UK publication which has paid out the most in libel claims.

Does anyone know whether this is verifiable? Or was this just a nasty rumour spread by one of it's competitors?
