Nope, she's a jack russell- think it might be a terrier thing?
Try cleaning the carpet.
Your dog licks the carpet out of boredom, most old dogs start this habbit, it is a bit like dementia in humans, just gentle disuade your dog from doing this, give it something else to licks/chew instead!

A dog trainer!
I am a dog trainer, your dog is now 10, which in human terms is an OAP! Your dog is licking the carpet out of boredom/repetitive needs, this is a bit like dementia in us, when your dog is licking the carpet, gentle say no and give him/her something else to chew or lick, thus distracting him/her, remember that an old dogs teeth are not always that strong, so give a soft chew when distracting them from licking things. Hope this helps
