I already got flowers delivered to my door last night from a nephew whose mother died when he was a baby. He always says he thinks of me as a mother to him, so I was really touched.

I will be doing the same as I've done for several years, providing total care 24/7.
My mother (aged 93) is disabled and totally reliant on others ... and I couldn't face her being put into a care home.

Sarumite you are a wonderful person. My father died in January at the age of 94. He stayed living in his own home thanks to my nephew (see my last post). He was bedridden for around six years and the amount of work it took mind blowing, and you can rarely get away without organising every last detail first.

Hi grasscarp .. you are too kind, but you've hit the nail on the head ... it is so difficult to leave home even for a couple of hours without contingency plans.
Your nephew sounds a lovely lad, but you were obviously there for him when it was most needed.
