Hi,
anybody understand why I would of been refused credit at curry's. Just went to buy a pc for about £800.00 on 12 month interest free credit. I was refused. Unbelievable!
I earn over £40:000 per annum and do not have anyone chasing me for money. I have a bank loan of £7:000 with my bank. That's no problem as I pay by direct debit every month with no problem. An argos card with only a couple of hundred quid left to pay until September. And my credit card is clear. Just got an iPhone from orange (£45 a month) with no problems. This has never happened to me before. I am perplexed! Any ideas?
Thanks

Sorry Paul. I'm not trying to brag. I apologise. I know it's still a lot of money, but i've got used to it and have a bit of a spending problem. That's why I have no savings, and also why I have a bank loan.
Completely feasible though.
Indeed, I don't begrudge it, I enjoyed spending money when I could!
I haven't been able to spend that sort of money since 1993!
I think my OH is a very sensible man.

I hope it comes around for you again. I was only on £10:000 per annum about 9 years ago and wasn't used to having much money. When I got this job I started spending like mad. Before I knew it I had a bank loan, credit cards, etc. By rights, I should have a nice little nest egg by now.

I know what your saying Paul. Maybe the real problem is I'm not used to having it so feel the need to spend it. Does that make sence? Anyway, I will now start trying to save. Can't go on like this forever.
My daughter had a fight with Vodafone 2 years ago and it affected her credit rating, so it could be that.
All the more reason to have a pay as you go phone.
When the phone was stolen did you inform o2? It happened to me with vodafone, stolen about 6pm didnt realise until 10pm, phoned them to report it stolen, by that time the besterds had ran up a £300 bill which I was liable for as it wasnt reported sooner.

I'm starting to think you may be right about the phone. Just ordered a credit check. Will take a few days to get here though. Thanks Sara.

Hi fadeout. Yes we did report. But not until the next day as never realised it was missing. 02 and vodaphone are shoddy and only care about money.
By all means get a credit report but I am not too surprised, Income is a factor in your favour but maybe the potential lender thinks you are at or near the credit limit. If you have a few credit cards you don't use they will contribute to your limit. The loans suggest you are a borrower who may present a risk to curry's because of other commitments.
Is £800 interest free that great a deal?
