Can anyone help me....?
I have been employment by my company since 18th April 05, I am aware that a written statement is not a contract, not sure what to do, as I am 13wks Pregnant and worried I will not be entitled to Maternity Pay, but I want to let them know asap.
No best answer has yet been selected by Bottom. Once a best answer has been selected, it will be shown here.
For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.I sorry to say but I don't think you will be entitled to Maternity pay. You must have worked for the company 26 weeks before the 15th week before the child's due date.
So work out the due date, work back 41 weeks and if you were not employed by your employer at that time not entitled to Maternity pay
As stumpage says unfortunately it looks like you might just miss out on Statutory Maternity Pay but you can calculate it more accurately from this link http://www.tiger.gov.uk/maternity/index_april03.htm
If you aren't entitled to SMP you may still get Maternity Allowance though. Have a look here: http://www.maternityalliance.org.uk/parents_work.htm#13
You'll also find lots of other useful info there too. Good luck with getting it all sorted & of course, congratulations!
