Sound not loud on my laptop

I have a Windows 7 laptop with a sound logo which I have turned up as loud as i can. However its not loud enough when watching a DVD or Youtube etc. Is there any way of turning it up louder ?

There should be a volume logo in the system tray .. If there is, double click to open the panel, then look for the wave and cd player sliders. Jack them up and try 1/8th from the top. There may be a special settings logo for Dell. Click on that and look for Sound adjustments. If there is nothing, open Control Panel/Sounds & Audio Devices/Audio tab and check the box "place volume...in taskbar" then look again.
Come back if still problem!

I clicked on the loudspeaker volume, bottom right on my screen. Opened volume mixer. Made Device Speakers and Applications System Sounds as loud as possible and then clicked on the red X. Tried it out with Youtube and a BBC programme called Outnumbered and volume still very low. I am not technical so if there is something else i can try, I need to know in an easy way of doing it ! thanks all.
