Dysons?

Please can anyone tell me if you just pay for the name Dyson, or are they worth the money? If not can anyone recommed a hoover that is for pet hair and fine dust..

I don't think they are worth the money. Too much plastic that breaks, too.
Miele Pet/Cat&Dog is pretty good. Parents just bought one. Good suction.

I have had two Dyson vacs, the first one dc01 was Ok, but eventually gave up the ghost 7 months ago so I've bought one of the new rollerball vacs, and I wish I hadn't. On the plus side it is great picking up hair etc, almost picks up the floorboards, and it is light to carry. I have the smaller one so I have to empty the container more often, and the hose for the staircase isn't long enough. The problem is that it is a carpet vac and a wood floor vac and when I change the beater bar (rollerbrush) to stop to use on a wooden floor I can't restart the brush again without resetting it, this time I can't get the roller brush to go at all, and I'm having to phone the engineer to have it fixed (5year parts and guarantee) I've only had it almost 7 months and I have a feeling this is going to be an ongoing problem with it, It wasn't cheap and I a bit cheesed off with it. A bit of a Mickey Mouse machine this one.

I clean a few houses with a friend and everyone has fallen for the Dyson marketing. Not sure why,the Henry we have is better. They are too heavy and certainly aren't worth the money. My favourite. The Miele Cat and Dog. A fantastic powerful,lightweight hoover.

I'm with albags and barb, I bought a Dyson thinking it would cope with cat hair, but it kept clogging up - I then bought the Meile Cat and Dog cylinder machine, and it's excellent. I recommend it!

Everyone falls for the marketing, don't they?! High prices ... crappy plastic parts that break, and filters to keep you busy buying/changing.
As far as I see, the only reason to push vortex cleaners on us, was to save in manufacturing costs.

My Dyson was rubbish and I was glad to see the back of it. Too plasticky and it did lose suction.

Hate Dysons. Had one. It was like lugging a tank around. Not sure why we should want to stare at all the rubbish - prefer it to be unseen. No good for animal hair. Grossly overrated. Henry is smashing.

I got the dyson cylinder model for allergies (I think) great suction on hard floors but that's all I can say, absolutely useless on carpet, Will not pick up bits of cotton or lint type stuff, weighs loads and fiddly to tidy away. Would never get another one.

when I took my Dyson to the local recycling depot, the man in charge said the majority of cleaners disposed of were Dyson's.
my replacement was a Miele, an excellent machine.

I don't think dysons are worth it, the cyclone idea does work but why pay a fortune for a dyson when everyone makes a cyclone vacuum now. I'd also second the suggestion for Henry's, they are more a commercial product but that means they work and they last.

I got a dyson and said I would never get another - then I got another - I dont have a problem with the suction its just its too complicated - my pipe keeps retracting!!!!
I think they should give some kind of instructions with them
