Memory Foam mattress toppers
9 Answers
Has anyone tried them....do they do what they claim??
I am considering getting one. Though my mattress is good-and only 4+ years old- I wake with backache.That-along with some joint pain, means I rarely feel refreshed lately.
All advice appreciated.

I have one and I LOVE it! my old mattress (latex) was too hard, so I bought a 2" memory foam topper from Ebay about 2 years ago. it is bliss. I chose a softer one as I'm a lightweight, and didn't want something I couldn't make a dent in. there are also different depths and you should get the right one for your weight.

Not a topper, but we've had a memory foam mattress for a couple of years now. It really is very comfortable and I don't wake with anywhere near the amount of backache that I used to. You don't get that 'roll-together' effect either.
We're seriously thinking of getting a topper for use in our caravan, because the seat/bed pads in that are none too thick.

I got one about two months ago, a 2" topper, and I love it. I look forward to getting into bed now and although you don't actually sink into it or make a depression as such, it does feel very comfortable under you. It also seems to feel quite warm, although thats probably psychological!
My mattress needed replacing but I could not afford it so this was a cheap alternative (paid about £35) and it was worth every penny.

If you decide to buy one (we've had one for years, highly recommended) be sure to find one with a "cover" that fits over the foam mattress. The early ones were found (just like the earlier Tempur-Pedic foam mattress) to be overly warm, especially in summer. The special fabric cover allows the foam to "breathe" and is noticeably more comfortable...
