Breaking up (it's hard to do)

What causes the picture on my digital tv to break up into horizontal "slices"? I t doesn't happen to all the stations.If anyone has the answer and a means of correcting it I would be very grateful . Thanks!!!!!

For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.If you reside in an area which has not yet changed over from Analogue to Digital then signal breakup will occur as some of the Digital Channels are on reduced power until the Analogue signal is switched off.
Providing you have a good outdoor Aerial there is not a lot you can do about it for now.
Using an indoor Signal Booster may help. You could also try a Full Re-Scan from scratch to see if that helps for now.

And in my experience if you are in an area where the switchover has occurred then you can fail to get all the digital channels you had before, even after a rescan from scratch. Such a huge joke, my sides have split. Take away the analogue channels, take the same ones and more away from digital as well. Genius, what they think to impose on the unimportant masses !
You need to get a better aerial (or, at least to try a signal booster with your existing aerial).
I can foresee you wanting to challenge that statement because
(a) the problem doesn't occur all the time ; and
(b) it only occurs on some channels.
However I'm 100% certain that your aerial isn't really up to the job. (Picture break up, or the complete disappearance of a channel, is a classic symptom of insufficient signal strength). For the reasons why it only happens at certain times, and on particular channels, please refer to my posts here:
