I've got an old double light fitting in my garage which takes 2 x 58w/35 5ft tubes.
I put 2 new tubes in at the weekend but they still are difficult to get lit.
There are no normal looking starters in the light fitting, I've been told the condensers could be goosed. is that correct and if so what do they look like ? if not, whats wrong and what does it look like??????

new fittings of this type of light are really cheap but you might have to buy two fittings as ive not seen double ones in years

‘Condenser’ is the old-fashioned name for a capacitor. Older types of fluorescent tube fittings incorporated a large inductor, combined with a capacitor (condenser). Within the light fitting, the condenser should be a silver coloured cylindrical component, (with 2 electrical connections) – maybe up to 100mm in length and around 30mm in diameter. If you have a modern electronic lamp ballast, such a component will not be present.
