I now live in France and I have bought several recipe books but they are for use in England. They use double cream, whipping cream, single cream and one book uses heavy or light cream. As I cannot get these creams in France what should I use in their place

Hi Marton I have the same trouble in Spain  we can get elmlea cream in the english shops here  it is not real fresh cream but a good substitute I used to use it in England it has a longer life than fresh cream so if you cannot get it in France get someone visiting from England to bring some out .Good Luck I miss proper cream badly!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

try using creme fraiche in some recipes it works well
