He ought to get chief lavatory cleaner
Prime Minister, so that Dave can spend more time with his wife and children.

Or perhaps Defence secretary to enable him to take on his back-benchers.
aog Under the LibDems we wouldn't have any defence so that post isn't available.
Minister of wet mackerels
Not sure he will get an offer he likes from the Tories.

It may be better for the Lib/Dems in the long run not to join a pact with either side and let the Tories run a minority Government without them.

Whoever gets in, they will have to impose some very austere measures that will make them deeply unpopular. Mervyn King, the Govenor of the Bank of England, warned recently, that the Election winner could be out of power for a generation, such is the hard measures they will have to dish out.

If, and it is a big if, that they do agree I rockon your on the mark with Home secretary.

I still cant see an agreement though and like Gromit points out winning this one is a poison chalice.
It is fair to say, there will be a General Election again very soon whether Clegg gets his dream Tory job of Home Secretary or Minister for Wet Fish etc.
It's not in his gift - he needs to sell it to his MPs and his Party unless 3/4 of both his MPs and the Party executive buy in nothings going to happen

I think it's more likely these are talks around Cleggs price for not bringing down a minority Conservative Government.

I may be wrong but I can't see him selling a coalition with the Tories to the faithful - not without a spectacular price tag
Yes any Con/LD deal will be "we will not vote against you" rather than "we will vote for you".

I dont think Clegg will ever be offered Home Secretary.
And why would he take it? to implement Tory policies? He might as well cross the floor.

Even if he agrees a deal can he deliver? When the first anti-Europe bill comes through and he tells his MPs to abstain - will they?
