last year I have worked for part of the year for an employer on a PAYE basis, then left to go self employed. now it's self assessment tax return time and i cannot find my P45 anywhere.

does anyone know how i'd go about filling in my self assessment without this.

thanks

Ask your ex-employer for a copy of the form. They are not allowed to give you another original but can photocopy their copy and let you have that. The tax office will not ask to see the original so you just need the figures to enter on your return.
Your final pay slip will probably have the required information on it.
