An American friend of mine has sent me several 'Winra' r ra files of Vince Gill but I can't open them, Has anyone any idea what I can do to be able to?

Winrar is a file compression and archiving utility used on RAR an ZIP files.
You can get a free version to decompress your file from:

winrar isn't free.

7zip is fully free and will also decompress RAR files

rar files are usually better compressed than zip files. Worth a look.

Winrar doesn't expire.
It just warns you every time you use after "expiry"
