Best time to eat after exercising
1 Answers
Have decided to get fit, so am now taking the bike instead of the bus to/from work, swim twice a week and do an hour of cardio workout everyday.
I've heard somewhere something about not eating for ½ - 1 hr after exercising as then your body will carry on burning calories even in rested state. Is that right? What is the precise timeframe?
Thanks in advance

I think the opposite is true.
Ecercise raises your metabolism. After exercise, your metabolism stays high for a while. Anything you eat will be processed and burned up very efficiently.
If you want your body to "use" your food instead of just "storing" it, you should eat in the 1 hour window after exercice.
I eat bananas on the way to the gym (for energy) and carry protein bars in my gym bag to eat as soon as I've finished.
