Hooking PC to TV

I would like to hook up my PC to my TV.

I went to PC World and they only had a 1.8m cable that was only suitable upto a 21" TV screen.

I'm not very savvy when it comes to computers, so could some kind soul please point me in the direction of where I can buy a lead that is suitable for a 42" and is about 10 metres long.

Also - does this type of lead have a name?

Finally, on the assumption I can get a lead, is it simply a case of plugging one end into the TV and the other into the PC and Bob's your uncle, or will I have to jump through hoops of fire to get it working (I tend to find with computers that nothing is ever straight forward!).

Thanks

What lead?

There are several different ways to connect a pc to a TV and which lead you use depends on what the available outputs are on the PC and what inputs you have on the TV

I suspect you are talking about a VGA cable (it would have a 15pin connector each end) in which case, PC world are talking rubbish saying it's only for upto a 21inch TV (I have a 50inch TV with a VGA cable plugged into it)

If I have got what you mean correctly then this is the cable you'll need (note the separate audio cable as I assume you'll want sound as well as picture)

£27 for 10m VGA cable is expensive. Try searching eBay. I bought a 15m VGA for only £8, that's without the audio cable which is still cheap buying them seperately.
