Tipping at hairdressers

Years ago it used to be common practice to tip your hairdresser. However I was wondering if this has changed? I don't see people do it anymore.

In the salon that I go to now, the stylist does your hair and then hands you over to the receptionist to pay the bill. If I want to tip, should I be leaving the money where my hair was cut? Also, what is a respectable tip? I leave 10% in restaurants so would this be the same for hairdressers?

I leave my barber a quid. No more. No Less. Always have done. Always will do.

If you want to make sure your particular hairdolly get's your tip, just leave it on the shelf in front of their mirror.

Leave it on the work station at which your hair was cut.

Leave a single item of currency ... eg. a £2 coin, or a £5 note ... whatever.

I always tip my Hairdresser as she does a good job. The more she nudges me with her t i t s the more I tip ! :-)
