Nice enough guy, but influencial figures in the chef faternity like Gordon Ramsey merely state what we could obviously witness in Ready Steady Cook, he's an absolute incompetant chef. Agree?
Ready Steady Cook is a highlight of my day. Ains takes a more active part in the cookery than he used to, and comes over to me as a knowledgeable cook, plus he can entertain and present all at the same time. As can Gordon Ramsey and AWT. I watch, slaver a lot, get some good ideas, but still end up ringing the local Indian or opening M&S baked beans for my supper.
i like ainsleys bbq cooking programmes on sky..he isnt my favourite anthony worall thomson is the best in my opinion..and i love ready steady cook when he is on..
Personally, I can't stand him or his cooking. Give me Gordon Ramsey or Rick Stein any day. Not keen on Gary Rhodes as a personality, but his recipes are excellent and very reliable - and he can certainly cook. Sophie Grigson's good, too....
Regardless of his "incompetance" He will probably earn a damn site more money than the average chef,so I don't suppose he really cares what anyone says.
So we're probably watching different versions of Ready Steady Cook then, with the others chefs correcting some of his methods, and in yesterday's 'quickie bag challenge' he litterally, even the chef that wasn't meant to be doing the challenge was doing a carbonara whilst Ainsley was more or less rattling some pans around the stove.
RSC is a programme to entertain and inform. If Ains needs correcting you can bet it is semi-scripted, and it serves to re-emphasize the points to the audience. First-class entertainment I call it, cookery skills come second.
Ainslee is the trained fool on the programme, but lets face it is only entertainment giving the clueless a hope of creating something above the dreary gunk they live on,and the psuedo-pretentious something to pretend is a gastronomic marvel infront of the gullible. Keith Floyd is the master, Rick Stein is good but needs to get ****** more often and free up his ideas
