What do you guys think about Valentines Day?

A scam invented by Hallmark cards to sell their products between Xmas and Easter (Easter cards - I ask you!). Another of those terrifying annual occasions, along with birthday, xmas and anniversary, when we again suffer the fruitless and thankless quest for the ultimate gift for the "significant other" in our lives. (If we remember that is!) Whatever we do, however much money we spend, and however long we spend on it, we never get it right. It's not our fault, we just aren't any good at it! Just accept it and our lives would be so much easier!! We are no good at getting subtle hints. If you want something, will you just tell us and save everyone a load of grief. And when you say that we "won't bother this year", be aware that we will believe and accept what you say. Don't give us a hard time because we listened. (All meant in fun of course!!)

It really is just a scam promoted in the last few years just to provide another day for florists and card sellers to rake it in.......besides i like treating the woman in my life (not that there is one just now) specially each and every day!

Yet another corporate scam. Is it America's influence again? - just like what they did to Hallowe'en or are our own British businessmen responsible for this one? Valentines day use to be sweet and low key. Nowadays you feel like sc*m if you don't comply. P.S. can you believe that scam with a 'u' get's knocked back for profanity by AB?

I think Valentines is a load of cr*p - and surprisingly I am a female!!! On a semi corny note, I think its stupid that people need a particular day in the year to let someone know they love them. But not only that, its supposed to be that you send a card etc to someone you fancy and reveal yourself and ask them to be your Valentine - but its all stroppy girlfriends/wives who get the ar*e if their bloke doesn't come home with chocs/flowers/teddies/diamonds/ ponies/huge castles etc etc.... and by the way, BenDToy I think your answer is great!! :)

try making me part with 3 quid of a card, only to sign it with a question mark!! if i did buy one i would have put in my full name and address and left the price sticker on. buy valentines cards on the 15th and save pounds

See I think it's a stupid holiday, but come on, what girl doesnt love to be showered with roses and cute teddy bears and stuff like that. Although everyone should show their love to their significant other every single day, but since not everyone does.. Im glad they have one day where they HAVE to try and be romantic.

I love Valentines Day! I know that there shouldn't be a particular day that you have to show you love your significant other but it just shows that you're not taken for granted. I am a big soppy romantic and always like to go out for a meal and by my partner a gift on Valentines Day, why not??
