Just about to go to bed with the windows open as it's very warm where I am, when Mr Plod decided to go for a ride in his budgie. 20 minutes of sheer racket till suddenly all went quiet. Must be tea break time.

Sorry, I used budgie as a term meaning police helicopter.

Oh, now I can not only understand but also empathise.

I live close to the Wattisham airbase, where the Suffolk police helicopter is based. They frequently seem to pass over my house just as I'm trying to get to sleep. Even worse, they seem to use our area for night training exercises, so (even when nobody seems to know about any crimes in our area) they can be hovering overhead for hours at a time!

Try living a few miles from Warton BAE Systems and then you will have something to complain about :)
They have been testing the Jets (Eurofighter/Typhoon) nearly constantly for the last week and the noise is horrendous!
