TV capture

Can anybody tell me if there is such a thing as a TV capture device that will record a program onto
an SD card or memory stick direct from the output sockets of my digital flat screen TV. I do not want to go to the expence of buying a DVD recorder as I would use it so very little it would not be worth it.

You can buy TV cards for slotting into your PC that will do that. But you need to be confident in opening up your PC and installing them.
