What is the most poignant thing someone has ever said to you, or you've ever heard?

For me... when HM said, "Grief is the price we pay for love" in the wake of 9/11. That really touched me.

You?

"I really must go to Specsavers.....or lay off the gin"

Lay off the gin? That's so drastic...
Hmm, p'raps that is a step too far.

Specsavers here I come
NoM there are so many, and some said to me here at times, but cannot put them up or I would be in tears all evening. So I hold them close to my heart, pass the gin bottle.
Like what mamya - when I called you a daft beggar? (;-))
Seriously though NoM - I felt the same when Big Sis said that there was no greater bond than that of sisters - not husband and wife, nor mother and daughter.
You called me that and I missed it, well now I know where I stand. (Here with a glass in my hand )
On the order of service of a young woman who had died from leukemia was a quote from Dr Seuss - 'don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened'. I still get a lump in my throat when I think of that, and I didn't know the girl.

Karen... that's lovely and very poignant.
When a friend who had sadly lost the love of her life... reminded me of something I'd said to her when she wasn't sure whether to have a relationship with him some years before...I'd said You never know if it is the right decision until you can look back on it many years later,,,,,

She said she didn't really get it back then... but she did and it was, and even knowing about the pain that was ahead she'd have done it again...

Too often we let 'what if's get in the way of happiness....and then we are left with 'if only,,,'
