the insurance company are the people who write off cars,ie cat a,d,c,d,nobody should be notified by you,the insurance company do it,its law that all cars written off are vic tested at a vosa centre,before swansea issue a new v5,once its tested send the pass form off to swansea and they will send you the new v5,its very easy,if the car is worth repairing to you do it.
I've actually bought my car back from the insurance company. I've done the repairs and had it MOT tested (for my own peace of mind) and I've now taxed it.
At no point has anyone pointed out that it's a CAT C apart from the thrid party insurers.
So how do I find out if a VIC check is indeed needed
