I was diagnosed years ago, and have been on 100mcg for all this time and it dramatically changed my life. I recently went for a standard thyroid blood test (as you do) and they have decided to reduce it by 25mcg . I am extremely worried about the effect the reduction will have. Has anyone else had a reduction and noticed it? Is it normal for docs to do this after such a long amount of time?

RLS - Restless Leg Syndrome , it's common with pregnant women, feels like you want your legs stretched (basic discomfort in legs) . . . I think the GP's are reading this as me suffering from Muscle cramps!
40 years ago I was treated with drugs for an overactive thyroid gland, the hospital kept reducing the dosage until I was drug free, this took several years, in which I was running about like a headless chicken, 4 years ago I thought that I was suffering from depression, when bloods were done surprise, surprise I am now underactive, I was told by my doctor that once your thyroid goes over there is a good chance of it going under in the future, but it took almost 40 years for this to happen to me, BTW I am fine, and have regular checks, so not to worry, drugs do help.
nelly - I take 100mcg and 75mcg on alternate days - it took 3 years to get my levels near to normal as possible after thyroid surgery. Ask your Doc if you can do alternate days to see how you feel.
