monitor power saving?

Can anyone tell me how i stop my monitor going black, on a kind of standby, when i leave it a while?,

 i have a great marine life screensaver but never get to see it because of this!

hi chelsea25--u need to go to ur power options--probably in control panel but it depends on ur op system--anyway in there u have the option to choose how ur machine handles ur power and u can set it to never switch off ur monitor--ur screen saver will then stay on til u start to use ur machine again--alternatively rt click on space on desktop choose properties/screen saver tab then again depending on ur system either advanced or power and u get to the same place
