Fiesta wont start!

My fiesta suddenly died whilst driving. When i try to start it the ignition lights all come on and wipers work but no noise or movement from the engine, no click or anything. What could the problem be?

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but it sounds rather like your timing belt failed.

I've had a similar problem with my Peugeout 205, though the non-starting is intermittant.  I'm afraid I don't know what the timing belt is, how serious is it if it's failed?  I mean, is it pricey?  Is the engine kaput etc?
