that was the best WDYTYA i have ever watched, it was brilliant, no luvvy duvvy darlings pretence and everything was so well researched, despite the aristocratic records he made it seem like it was the best thing ever, and it was excellent.
His maternal line obviously made the best TV but I wondered if his Father's family, Armstrongs in Rothbury, is connected with Cragside, the NT property. That was William Armstrong who first used hydro-electric power to run his house. If the connection exists, how curious, in view of the Somerset's experiments with water power hundreds of years earlier.
I agree Dot, it was brilliant. Would be lovely to have connections like that. I thought he must have some good background as he does talk posh and has an excellent vocabulary
Do you remember the one with Matthew Pinsent ?
He also had a royal connection and was treated to a family chart which, when opened, like a roll of wallpaper, led in a direct line to 'God'...........
I was hoping to see what AA would have made of that !! :o)
Yes, I would have thought he would have been more amazed by the revelation apart from his favourite word being `wow !' although he is a very quiet reserved person
i just watched this as i had to sky+ it on monday. i agree dotty the best one ive seen for a while.
wouldn't it be lovely to have someone do all that work for you and take you to all the places that your ancestors lived in. i'd love it but somehow i don't think mine would be quite as exciting as alexander armstrongs lol
