that was the best WDYTYA i have ever watched, it was brilliant, no luvvy duvvy darlings pretence and everything was so well researched, despite the aristocratic records he made it seem like it was the best thing ever, and it was excellent.

His maternal line obviously made the best TV but I wondered if his Father's family, Armstrongs in Rothbury, is connected with Cragside, the NT property. That was William Armstrong who first used hydro-electric power to run his house. If the connection exists, how curious, in view of the Somerset's experiments with water power hundreds of years earlier.

Yes, I would have thought he would have been more amazed by the revelation apart from his favourite word being `wow !' although he is a very quiet reserved person

i just watched this as i had to sky+ it on monday. i agree dotty the best one ive seen for a while.
wouldn't it be lovely to have someone do all that work for you and take you to all the places that your ancestors lived in. i'd love it but somehow i don't think mine would be quite as exciting as alexander armstrongs lol
