hi, ive just bought a cook book and all the recipies seem to be cup measures,does anybody know what that would be equivalent to in ounces,thank you.

For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.You cannot convert directly from cups (volume) to ounces or grams (weight). If you imagine a cup full of (say) cornflakes it would weigh less that a cup of flour because there would be loads of air in the former.
US recipes use mugs and in cook shops in the UK you can buy measuring cups, just as you can buy measuring spoons for UK recipes.
However you can use any cup or mug as your basic measure proving you use it for all of the ingredients so that they are all in the same proportions.
