I live in Scotland and outside my house is a samll piece of public land for about six cars. This area is now being occupied by a taxi rank for taxis and mini buses when not on hire. I called the council and although on the licence for the buisness they are said to be keeping them elsewhere because the land is public and all the vehicals are incures taxed etc there is not much that can be done. even tho my neighbour and i hav no spaces to park. Even when one taxi moves someone is waiting in another one to nip into the space. what can I do legally?

Nothing. The land is public so any vehicle that is properly taxed can park there.
I suppose you could try complaining to the taxi company.

tried that but because i went to the council he parked even more taxis there
hc4361 is absolutely right. As long as the taxis do not cause any problems to road users and are taxed then they can remain. Living somewhere does not give you any more rights to parking spaces near your home.

As hc says, perhaps a friendly word with the taxi company might get you some results. They may be sympathetic, but don't bank on it.
Sorry, I didn't see your second post smartie.

There is little you can do then smartie. Unless you and your neighbours can come to some arrangement to put a taxed vehicle permanently into the space so it blocks all spaces.
Question Author
can their licence not be questioned if they say they are keeping them somewhere else?

i can see me accidently dropping alot of nails out there lol
are they waiting there for a fare/radio call or parked up with no occupants?
Question Author
parked with no occupants.
Private hire or black cab?
Question Author
private hire. they cant pick people up on street the fare must be called in
unfortunately Smartie, they are parking the vehicles with the same rights as you wanting to park your vehicle there. I dont think that there is anything that you could do about it and I was not take any action that could result in a claim of criminal damage to yourself. Yes, it is annoying but, life generally is.
Arrange for you all to call for seperate jobs all over the city at the same time (including a few minibus jobs), then when they all shoot off jump in the spaces and leave your cars there
illegally you could do more ;o)

You could let their tyres down - you wouldn't be causing any damage but it would be bloody annoying. Just as you are being annoyed by them.
It's very antisocial of them to do this, and I would have a conscience about it, but unfortunately there are many around that don't give a damn.
If you ever have a chance though.

Can you not devise a scheme with the neighbours in that you keep watch and every time a car leaves you just drive into the empty space and leave it there for a couple of days. If you and your neighbours do the same, they might have to go elsewhere!!

Be sitting in your cars ready and waiting.

Good luck.
Brilliant Bobjugs!!
Petrol bombs are the future (this is Scotland after all, the land where airport staff punch you if you are on fire)
You could ring and book all the fleet for a load of relatives arriving at a station to go to a wedding on a Saturday. Book them all for one job, then do as Bobjugs says!!
had the same problem here eventually after months of being nice i searched internet chat rooms and posted there number with the message ring for good time they kept changing there number i kept reposting it 3 months later they moved lol
