Just found a recipe for cookies in a magazine, and the ingredients include:
"170g tube Carnation condensed milk"
I thought condensed milk came in a tin? Is this a new thing or have i been missing it...?!! I really want to make these cookies today, so need to get the ingredients asap. If my local supermarket (which is tiny) doesn't stock 'tubes', do you know if the tinned stuff will suffice?
Thanks in advance.... i NEED those cookies!!!!!!!!!

bel - i think i'll need to sample at least 500 to make sure they are edible, you understand... but perhaps after that i MIGHT bring out a plate for you all ;0)
woofgang - i shall be on the lookout for one of those... how decadent!!
IAP - it WAS one of his recipes, yes!!!! but it was in a different mag - 'Closer', or something like that, and apparently it's from a 'dessert' book of his. Don't the cookies look good?
Condensed milk was traditionally sold in a tin, and is still available in that format, as is Evaporated milk. They have a slightly different manufacturing process ( one is condensed, the other evaporated from normal milk!). Last year, carnation launched squeezy milk, condensed milk in a tube.
Advantages- you don't have to use it in 1 go as you do a tin, It isn't as messy as a tin.
Disadvantages - You can't make toffee sauce as easily. with a tin you boil the unopened tin for ages and the milk turns to a toffee. You can't do that with tubes.
